Who am I?

My name is Noah Kessenich and I'm currently a +2 Handicap

But I didn't get into golf until the age of 20 after an ankle surgery. I had always been an athlete, but with screws and plates in my ankle, it seemed like I wouldn't be able to run and train like I used to. The doctor told me “hey at least you’ll be able to golf well into your 60’s,” not knowing I'd never played a round of golf in my life.

After recovering, I decided to give it a shot and started going to the driving range whenever I could in between classes at Cal State Fullerton. I wanted to learn as much as possible to improve my game, so I relied on Youtube swing tips and advice from other golfers on the range. I spent countless hours on the course implementing what I'd seen in those YouTube videos and ended up getting to a single digit handicap that first year.

That wasn't enough, though. I really wanted to shoot under par, but I wasn't able to get there on my own. After five stubborn years of shooting scores between 72-80, I decided to take some lessons. Through one of my professors at Cal State Fullerton, I was connected with Dana Dahlquist, who is currently #9 on GolfDigest's Top 100 Instructors. I studied under him learning what goes into a great golf swing and how to become a better golfer. He started as my swing coach, but now I am grateful to call him my mentor.

Getting formal instruction was one of the best things I ever did for my golf game. I was finally able to shoot under par, but more importantly, I now understand the biomechanics of a golf swing at a high level and can self-diagnose and self-correct my swing during a round of golf.

I am currently a +2 Handicap and consistently shoot under par with my lowest round being 64 (-8). My goal now is to help golfers understand that proper coaching can lead to accelerated and permanent results, which translates to lower scores and the ability to understand their swing. Finding the right coach is a great way to get the results you're looking by giving you guidance on your swing and holding you accountable along the way.
